RSHE
Teaching Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education (RSHE) is a fundamental and statutory part of the curriculum.
RSHE is delivered through the Opening Young Minds programme, which follows a spiral curriculum approach. This enables pupils to build on prior learning as key themes are revisited throughout their time at school, developing knowledge, understanding, values and skills in an age- and stage-appropriate way. Through weekly lessons, pupils develop emotional literacy using the Being Human vocabulary, explore different perspectives through structured discussion and Oracy activities, and learn practical strategies to support their mental health, wellbeing and relationships. Key concepts, known as the Golden Challenges, are reinforced throughout school life, helping children apply their learning in everyday situations. As pupils move through the school, themes such as kindness, empathy, resilience, healthy boundaries, online safety and personal responsibility are explored in greater depth, supporting a deeper understanding of increasingly complex issues.
Our aim is to provide high-quality, inclusive RSHE education that meets the needs of all pupils within a safe and supportive learning environment. Through the use of balanced, age-appropriate and non-biased resources, we equip children with the knowledge, skills and values they need to build positive relationships, maintain good physical and mental health, stay safe both online and offline, and become confident, respectful and resilient members of society. Our staff are committed to ensuring that every child develops the understanding and confidence needed to live, learn and thrive in the modern world. Each class from Nursery to Year 6 has a weekly lesson that promotes these very important aspects of learning.

RSHE Consultation
We are currently consulting with parents and carers on our updated RSHE Policy, which has been revised to reflect the latest statutory guidance.
To support your input into the subject we have created an explanatory presentation that outlines the key changes and elements of the RSHE curriculum.
